Network – Using Google Authenticator for Two-factor Authentication in Dashboard

Description:

This blog help setup a two-factor authentication using google authenticator.

Process Flow:

  1. Open a case by emailing licensing@meraki.com
  2. This email must be sent from the email address of the account TFA is to be disabled on.
  3. Once in communication with a Cisco Meraki Support Specialist, explain that TFA needs to be disabled for the account and provide the requested documentation.
  4. The Support Operations Specialist will request more information about the organization and its contents and settings to verify the validity of the request.
  5. Meraki Support then linked the case to the dashboard organization in question. Please have an organization level administrator follow the steps below in order for us to be able to disable 2FA on your profile:

·       Ensure Meraki Support has access to the dashboard organization
Please make sure that the "Full Access" box is checked under Organization > Configure > Settings > Meraki Support Access.

·       The "Two-factor authentication" feature needs to be disabled -- This needs to be disabled on every organization the locked out administrator has been added to.
The"Two-factor authentication" feature is disabled by navigating to Organization > Configure > Settings > Security > Two-factor authentication > Uncheck the box
NOTE: This feature does not disable 2FA on other administrator profiles on the organizations. This feature forces new users to setup two-factor authentication and if it has been setup, those users will still need to use 2FA to login, even with this feature disabled.

·       Post a comment authorizing 2FA to be disabled on the Administrator profile that is locked out due to 2FA
Example: "I am an organization level administrator and I authorize 2FA to be disabled on
example@example.com."
A comment can be sent by navigating to Help > Cases > Select case “12345678" > Scroll down and click Add new comment.

6. Once 2FA has been disabled on the organizations and the comment has been submitted, we will remove 2FA on your profile. After disabling 2FA, contact user and perform mentioned.
